Superlux HD661 Review : Recommended Entry Level Headphone

Superlux is trying to confront face to face to the popular Sony MDR 7506 by making the Superlux HD661. Obviously it makes our choice becomes wider to choose a headphone which can do a lot of things well, though no perfect. But, the price Superlux offers for this HD661 is quite interesting. With the price range roughly only half of Sony MDR 7506, this Superlux HD661 should be considered “recommended”

For now, let’s check the Superlux HD661 specification :

Type: Dynamic, closed-back

On my first impression, Superlux, unfortunately lacks of refinement things. It is comfortable, but not so comfortable to fit the head. Sony has much softer pads, and headband, which makes Sony comfortably fits my head better. But this drawbacks are forgiven due to the sound performance of Superlux HD661. The Soundstage is larger, the imaging is better, and a better sense of ambiances. Superlux HD661 also has a proper treble presence.

Surprisingly, Superlux HD661 has got my appreciation after a few weeks. I fell really enjoy listening to it. Superlux has successfully make HD661 with proper tonal balance which makes me so comfortable to listening various genre of musics. And, my complain about the Superlux HD661 doesn’t fit my head perfectly, has been disappeared now. My head have been used to it, and I feel comfortable wearing it. A recommended for an entry level headphone, I think. But, don’t expect highly to this headphone, since it’s just a entry level headphone. Yet, you will find this HD661 to be fun and enjoyable with this range of price.
